Rich in history and natural resources, Carter County, KY, named for Colonel William Grayson Carter, was the 88th county formed in Kentucky. Carter County, created originally by Greenup and Lawrence Counties, is home to Carter Caves, Carter County Clay Products, and was the original location of five iron furnaces.
