Country Music Highway
Running almost the entire length of eastern Kentucky, the 144-mile byway
was home to a large number of well-known country musicians who were
born along an eight-county stretch of Highway US 23. These include Loretta Lynn, Wynonna Judd, Naomi Judd, Billy Ray Cyrus, Tom T. Hall, Ricky Skaggs, Keith Whitley, Dwight Yoakam, and Patty Loveless. Byway also passes through areas which are rich in the history of Native Americans, pioneers, the Civil War, and the mining industry.
Start and Endpoint: Byway follows US 23 south from Ashland to Whitesburg, Kentucky.
